The Animal Population at Our House

I have always loved animals. My first memories of life our filled with lots of animals, real and stuffed animals, or as I like to call them my "honorary pets."  My personal time line is littered with memories of adventures with my animal friends.  Most of them four legged, one with no legs at all!

The first animals I remember from my childhood are my dog Carmen and sweet cat Ceily. From the time I was 3 years old my childhood is filled with memories of Carmen, our energetic lab puppy, and Ceily our talkative Siamese mix. The house we used to live in was in a bad neighborhood, so not having a dog was out of the question.  Although, sadly, Carmen was not much of a guard dog.  Afraid of her own shadow, she would jump at any unexplained noise.  Sweet Ceily used to curl up with me in my crib.  She was very patient with babies.  When I was only a few months old I would use her as a stabilizer when I would try to sit up.  My mom says I would burry my fingers and my face in to her soft hair.  After I grew to be a toddler, Ceily began to teach me how to treat her and other animals by either biting me gently or batting me with her soft paws.  I learned quickly not to pull her tail.

Ceily, was the first of many cats to join our family.  For a while we seemed to collect them, as each of us four children wanted our own.  None of us claimed Ceily, she was the “family cat”.  For a few years we had five cats.  All with different quirks and personalities.  Ceily would get confused if we got a real tree, so every year we would get an artificial one.  Other wise, she would leave us "presents" under the tree.  Annie, who was my cat, was afraid of her own shadow.  We call Rocky “Mr. moody pants.”  One minute he would be loving on you, and the next, he would bite you and run away!  Chloe, our sweetest cat, was known as “Fatty.”  She has never bitten any one at all.  When you sneeze, she mews!  It's like she is saying “Excuse you, will feeding me make you feel better?”  Max, also known as “Slinky,” has the super ability to flatten himself like a pancake!

Ceily has passed away and we had to give Annie away when we moved to Colorado.  After we moved here we got new animals, like guinea pigs, my very own snake named Bailey, and finally four chickens.  Our guinea pigs have had two litters since we got them.  I love the way we can train our guinea pigs to do super awesome stuff, like climbing the stairs and running into our bedrooms!  Our talkative chickens also have their own personalities.   One of the funniest things they love to do is to chase moths.  They catch spiders too.  Whenever we go in the backyard they all run as fast as their little chicken legs will carry them just to see if we have any treats for them to eat.  Between the chickens and the guinea pigs, none of our uneaten fruits or veggies are ever wasted.

Even if they weren’t living breathing compost-eaters, my family and I would still welcome animals in our home.  I cannot imagine my life without all my awesome animals, and all the joy they have brought into my life.  Whenever I feel lonely, I can always talk to one of my animal family members.  I never feel like I am truly alone.  I don’t have to dress right or talk perfectly, they love me anyway.  Their love is unconditional.  That’s why I will never live without animals in my home.

“Changing from a City girl to a Country girl”

It all started with my friends the Olson family they live in Stockton, CA back then they had only six children they live in the country I mean the whole thing cows, goats even a pony! It was my favorite place to go even though they were a thirty minute drive we spent every holiday we could, spending time with them my friend Gwendolyn was at the time learning to throw a knife. My other friends were learning to shoot guns. Every time I went there I only wanted more of that “Farm Life” I started to think what it would be like to have my own farm and what kind of cowboy I would marry someday. To this day I still want a farm where I could have as many animals as I wanted like pigs, cows, lamas, goats, horses, a barn, and some more chickens.

It turns out my mom had the exact same idea and my dad was happy with whatever my mom wanted. So we all started looking at farms for sale with at least five acres almost immediately.  It was awesome even during school she would tell us to look at a maybe potential house even without my mom; my little sister and I would look for a possible house if we found a good one we would email it to our mom so she could look at it later.

I also have a dream to have my very own club where I would have sleep overs with my friends and some of my cousins too! I have also been bugging my dad about getting a gun so I can go to the shooting range with my friend Andrew who is also one of my very best friends he and I would love to shoot at the shooting range every day if we could. What will I come up with to do next hunting, barrel race, huh, guess I will just have to wait. and now I am glad to call myself a cowgirl

The Changes in My Friends

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” (Revelations 2:4)

Life is always changing.  Some changes are good.  One I am looking forward to is the ability to drive.  Other changes are difficult to appreciate, like the way my friends are changing.  Like a crazy storyline from one of my favorite novels; overnight, these remnants of my friends look like them, and sound like them, but they are different.  I am perplexed.  I feel betrayed.

We always had fun with our conversations.  Talking about are dreams of possible careers, where we would like to live, or decorations we would like for our bedrooms.  We would spend hours letting are a imagination carry us away.   I knew we would grow up.   What I didn’t know, was that for some of my friends that would mean a complete change in focus.  It’s like I don’t know some of them anymore.  Once my closest confidants, these worldly, boy-crazed aliens have replaced them.  Their conversation is totally centered on boys and boyfriends.  Who’s “going out” with whom, which boys are the cutest and just what they are willing to do to get them.  They have become consumed with some twisted idea of perfection.  Once easy going girls, wearing dirt and scraped knees, suddenly they can’t leave the house without perfect makeup and the perfect outfit, just in case they might run into a boy.

Their parents are oblivious; it’s not their fault, not really.  The deception is calculated.  These friends, who once talked openly with their parents, are suddenly living covert, double lives that a spy would envy.  Parents have become the enemy, and stealth is required to keep them unaware and unsuspecting of their daughters’ activities.  These girls no longer believe that they should listen to their parents.   They think that their parents are lame.  They “don’t understand.”  Their selfish desires are the driving force in their lives.

What about how the Lord wants us to live?  Does that matter?  God’s will is but a shadow to them. Something that mattered to them once, but godly desires have been replaced by worldly ones. They have adopted the world’s idea of beauty verses Gods idea of beauty.  Once they clothed themselves in kindness, now they feel compelled to dress provocatively.   Once focused on God’s purpose for their lives, now they are focused on what boys would like, or what their “friends” will think.

My friends are changing, and I don’t like it.  Like a change of season, with once green leaves turning brown and drifting from the tree of life, they have fallen away from their first love.  Seeking what they think will bring them satisfaction; they drift aimlessly, blown about by the winds of worldly desires.  Following those who have fallen away before them, they join the pile of empty, souls who don’t understand what real love is. The love of Christ fulfills. It is the source of real satisfaction.

A Letter from Abraham to His Son, Issac

Dear Issac,
.
This is the story of how our family came to live in Canaan.  My name was Abram before God changed it, and your mother's was Sarai.  My father was Terah.  He was a famous merchant in the city of Ur before he died. You see, it was a hard time for people in the city of Ur back then.   Our ruler had just died, and my father was worried that the city would be attacked, and all his riches would be taken.   So, he asked his gods where our family should go. Then he took us to the city of Haran.  This city satisfied my father, because it was a good place for a merchant.  After years of living in the city of  Haran, my father past away.  On the night of his funeral I decided to take a peaceful stroll through our fields.  I heard a loud voice calling my name "Abram!" I looked around and saw no one, so I took a chance at asking the voice, "Who are you?  The voice said, "I am the one and only God!''  Then, I asked God, "What do you want from me, Lord?"  Then, God said, "If you worship only me I will bless your friends and curse your enemies, and I will make you the father of a great nation.  Your children and grandchildren will inherit the land of Canaan."  I laughed when God said this, because your mother and I were quite old by that time.  That's when God changed our names from Abram and Sarai to Abraham and Sarah.  One year later we had you.   We named you Issac, which means "laughter" because we laughed at God when he told us that in are old age we were going to have a beautiful baby.

                                    Your loving father,
                                    Abraham

God speaks to Abraham!

Abram lived in the city of Ur.  He helped his father, Terah, who was a merchant. After Sargon's death, Terah was worried. Many cities near Ur were under attack. He took his family to live in Haran.  After Terah died, his son Abram thought he should ask the gods what to do. Abram took a walk one night and God spoke to him! God told Abram to go to Canaan. God said, "If you obey and worship me, You will be the father of a new nation.  I will give the whole land of Canaan to you and your children." God changed Abram's name to Abraham and his wife's name from Sarai to Sarah. God gave Abraham and Sarah a son in there old age. His name was Isaac.  Isaac had a son named Jacob and Jacob had twelve sons. Those twelve sons became the ancestors of the nation of Israel.

This is the view from history, folks.  I hope you had a nice time reading it.  I had an amazing time typing it.  Check back soon. Bye for now! :]
