The Cerebellum

The cerebellum, which means "little brain," is a small, pear-shaped section at the back of the brain, below the cerebrum. It is much smaller than the cerebrum. It controls voluntary balance, movement, and coordination. Because of your cerebellum, you are able to stand upright, keep your balance and move around. The cerebellum makes the muscles in your hands and fingers work together. If your cerebellum was injured, you would have poor balance and move with jerky motions.

The Cerebrum

The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain. The cerebrum is the thinking part of the brain. It controls memory. You use your cerebrum to make decisions and imagine. The cerebrum controls voluntary muscles; the muscles you use when you kick a soccer ball or dance. The cerebrum also makes it possible for you to see, hear, taste, touch and smell.

The cerebrum has two halves, known as the left and right hemispheres. It is covered with a layer of nerve cells, called the cortex. The cortex is involved in many complex brain functions including memory ,perceptual awareness, thinking and language. The right side of the cortex controls muscle activities in the left side of the body, and the left side of the cortex controls activities on the right side of the body.

The Brain

Your brain is the computer control center for your body. It is not one mass, but it is divided into parts. One of the smaller parts is the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus controls automatic body functions, like digestion.

The three main parts of the brain are the medulla, cerebellum and, cerebrum. The medulla and the cerebellum are at the base of the cerebrum. The medulla is connected to the top of the large bundle of nerves running down through the spine, called the spinal cord. The medulla controls involuntary movements, such as the beating of your heart.

The story I am working on!!!!

The
Melissa Hanson
Adventures

Chapter one: Middle School

Everywhere in the world there is someone well…different. For Melissa Hanson different… was her middle name.  See her mother and father were traveling around the world when she was born. They were afraid that they would be limited by their young companion, so they left her under the care of her eccentric Aunt Martha. Aunt Martha was a loving woman, but her desire to make Melissa into a “proper young lady” made her seem harsh and standoffish. Aunt Martha’s mission to conform Melissa’s rather adventurous nature into something quiet and reserved created constant frustration for the poor old women and challenges for Melissa, who would later pursue a career as a detective- but I am getting ahead of myself now where was I oh yes, it all started when she was thirteen sitting on a bench in the park beneath a tiny tree when all the sudden an odd-looking boy sat right next to her on the bench at this very moment  she thinking “oh dear why him” in the fourth grade he had boasted about how his parents owned the largest bank in the country and how he would inherit  a lot of money by the time he was eighteen . He did it in front of me all the time in till the day he kissed me (oh and by the way I am Melissa Hanson) I was very shocked and quit mad and pushed him he flopped over and landed in mud.Poor boy, he did not come back to school for a whole month. By that time a lot of rumors had circulated across the school. Some believed that he had been abducted by aliens, but others said that his parents were sending him to boarding school because they couldn’t handle him anymore. And every time he saw me he made a very twisted face that looked as though he had tasted something sour like lemonade without the sugar. My friend Jane was dragged through this the whole time people would come to her and ask if the rumors about me kissing him were true being the polite girl she is she would say "no" and then as sneakily and as quickly as possible run away from the ever growing crowd. Poor  Charlie didn’t know that his attempt at romance and subsequent mud bath would insure status as a social outcast for the rest of his middle school years.  His reputation as “muddy romantic” followed him even through high school.

Been working on this for a while hope you like it! and that's the view from here check back soon for Chapter two of Melissa Hanson's adventure  bye for now!!!
